The Review breakdown

Having heard about the Witcher series, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition, was a great time to discover the series. It’s a rare feat for a game to be considered great upon release, and an even rarer one for that game to re-enter the conversation years later, reminding everyone why it earned that title in the first place. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition for the PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Pro does exactly that. This isn’t just a simple port; it’s the definite way to experience one of the greatest role-playing games ever made.

The most immediate and breathtaking upgrade is the visual overhaul. Playing in the new “Performance Mode,” allows you to take in war-torn fields of Velen, the busy streets of Novigrad, and the sun soaked islands of Skellige have never looked more alive. Textures are sharper, draw distances are vastly improved, and the upgrades to the grass and foliage make the world feel more immersive. The Power of the PS5 helps to remove pop-in and the other technical hiccups from the last-gen version, creating an incredibly immersive and seamless experience. Combined with vastly reduced loading times, the size and scale of the map is far less cumbersome to explore than ever before.

All the visual upgrades in the world would mean nothing if the core of the game wasn’t stellar, and The Witcher 3 still delivers. The combat, a blend of swordplay, magic, and alchemy, still feels responsive and visceral. While the RPG mechanics and combat may feel dated compared to some modern titles, they are more than sufficient and fit the world of the Witcher 3 perfectly.

The Complete Edition includes the base game along with expansions. Heart of Stone and Blood and Wine. The first functions as more of a story expansion, while the latter is essentially a new DLC region called Toussaint to explore. These DLC add hours to an already expansive game providing even more content, this game is sure to keep you busy for quite a while.

The Wrap up

In closing: Whether you’re a veteran Witcher looking for an excuse to don the medallion once more, or a newcomer curious about the hype, the PS5 version of the The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition is an unmissable experience. CD Projekt Red has treated their classic with the care and respect it deserves, elevating it with modern enhancements that make it feel more like a current-generation title. It is, without a doubt, the best version of an unforgettable journey.
